World Immunization Week is a global initiative organised by the World Health Organization in the last week of April (24 to 30 April) aiming to promote the use of vaccines to protect people of all ages against vaccine preventable diseases. Immunisation is recognized as one of the most successful, safe and cost-effective health interventions and protect millions of people each year globally from serious and often deadly diseases including measles, hepatitis B and even some forms of cancer. We have sacrificed so much to keep our loved ones and community safe from COVID-19: family reunions, hugs from loved ones, meals with friends and colleagues.
Now, vaccines offer us the clearest path back to normal. Together, we can end the COVID-19 pandemic and achieve a healthier world for all.
